Made from FSC Birch plywood harvested from Nordic forests, the distinctive graphic style was inspired by Alex’s love of typography. The stool inspired a whole range based on the ‘A’ shape, one of the purest forms in engineering and architecture. An instant hit when the collection launched in 2011, it was the first ‘carry-away’ furniture available from John Lewis. The clean lines and simple design means the A Stool can be used throughout the home or office in many ways. It was specifically designed to move with your changing needs. The high pressure laminate offers a protective layer that can be cleaned with ease and the exposed birch edges are sealed with furniture wax.
The ‘A’ shape is actually a typeface designed by Norm in Switzerland and was chosen because of the reduced letter width – this means you don’t trip up! We are proud to manufacture the A Stool in Scotland.
This strong and beautifully crafted stool has been used in contract furniture projects for clients including Top Man/Top Shop, Sweaty Betty, Marks & Spencer, Kate Spade and Orlebar Brown.
“A contemporary classic“
The Guardian newspaper
‘It was really easy to put together. It’s a strong and stable piece of furniture that perfectly complements my bedroom dressing table (also made of birch) and it comes in handy as a side table or a stand for my ever-growing collection of plants.’
Made from FSC Birch plywood bonded with a coloured laminate.
